Every portable espresso maker has the same catch. Almost nobody mentions it.
They don't heat anything. You pull the shot by hand, and the water has to already be boiling — which means a kettle, or a flask you filled before you left. In a car at six in the morning, on a platform, on a site, in a hotel room with no kettle, you don't have boiling water. That's the whole problem with the category, and the machines at £60–80 don't solve it.
Cold water in. Espresso out.
Fill it from a tap, press once, and it heats the water itself. Around five to six minutes for a full 80ml — long enough to get your coat on, short enough that you're drinking it before you've left the car park. No kettle, no plug, no flask.
Ground coffee or capsules. Both.
Capsule machines tie you to buying their capsules forever. This one comes with adapters for ground coffee and for two capsule systems, so you can use the beans you already like, or drop a capsule in when you can't be bothered. 20 bar of pressure either way.
Built to be carried
245mm tall, 83.5mm across — it stands in a cup holder, fits a glovebox, goes in a rucksack. Charges over USB-C from the same cable as your phone. The display shows water temperature and battery, so you're not guessing.

Do I need to bring hot water?
No — that's the whole point. Fill it from a tap or a bottle and it heats the water itself.
How long does it take?
Around five to six minutes to heat 80ml from cold. Press it when you get in the car and it's ready before you've pulled off.
Can I use my own coffee?
Yes. It comes with an adapter for ground coffee and adapters for capsules. Use whichever you have.
How long does the battery last?
It's a 2500mAh cell and charges over USB-C in three to four hours. Heating the water uses most of the power, so you'll get more shots per charge if you fill it with hot water instead.
Will it fit my cup holder?
It's 83.5mm across and 245mm tall, so it stands in a standard one.
How do I clean it?
Run it once with water and no coffee in it. The adapters come apart and rinse under the tap.
